HELLO NURSE BIO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A sea of frenzied teenagers uniformly clad in red shirts, rhythmically chanting and bouncing in unison like a crowd of soccer hooligans; a Hello Nurse concert is quite a departure from the typical rock show!
Hello Nurse promises minimal amounts of the requisite preening and shoe-gazing. In addition, no eyeliner has been abused in the making of a Hello Nurse song. Instead, expect a high-energy rock show replete with sweaty sing-along choruses, thoughtful lyrics, and tight musical interplay.
Mike, Ed, Joe, and Christian met in February of 2004 through mutual friends in the New York City indie rock scene. The four bandmates bring a wealth of experience to Hello Nurse that belies their age, having collectively played with artists in such groups as Taking Back Sunday, The Mars Volta, OKGO, Macy Gray, Lauren Hill, and the French Kicks. Since that time, Hello Nurse has used aggressive DIY promotion and a strong work ethic to build an enthusiastic grassroots following.
- Hello Nurse has headlined at premier NYC venues and has played with such notable bands as We Are Scientists (Virgin); The Living Things (Interscope); Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria (Columbia); among others.
- The band was invited to play the CMJ Music Marathon in 2004 and 2005, as well as showcase at South by Southwest in 2006.
- The band's self-produced releases have been met with great fanfare both critically and on sites such as MySpace, where they've attracted over 80,000 fans.
- Several of the band's performances have been filmed for an as-yet-unreleased show for MTV; the band has also been filmed for Japanese TV.
- Hello Nurse's latest offering, "Chorusaurus," has received strong critical reviews and helped earn the band airplay on satellite-, terrestrial- and internet-radio; the band has been featured on XM Radio's "The Radar Report" in June 2006.
- Hello Nurse routinely uses college internships to help promote the band and boasts an active street-team of over 150 teenagers christened the "Nurse's Brigade."
- Brisk sales from CD's and t-shirts on iTunes, Amazon, Interpunk, and CD Baby.
- The band has played a number of small tours in the northeast and this fall, the band will embark on a major college tour.
Through creative marketing Hello Nurse has established a strong sales niche and infrastructure with a limited budget and resources. Though the band has been courted by music industry, Hello Nurse remains unsigned. The band is ready for the right deal and willing to commit to bigger and better exposure to bring its music to a national and international stage.
