The Blurb
“Hello Nurse rocks NYC!” says Pastepunk.com. The critics succinctly describe the high energy performances that have built Hello Nurse a sizable following in the NYC music circuit and Brooklyn art scene. Hello Nurse got its start when guitarist Ed Gross decided to put together a power pop band with energetic and fun songs. Hello Nurse has moved into headlining slots on weekends packing the house with the lunatic fringe. The band is constantly recording in their own studio, Hey Sailor Studios. They make all relevant recordings freely available on their regularly updated web site, http://hellonurse.com. Catch them live in New York or on the road, coming soon to a venue in your town.

Hello Nurse Timeline
Oct 2002 - After having moved to NYC, Ed Gross (guitar) and Nathaniel Vose (vocal) decide to put together a band. Undecided on a name, they solicit a rhythm section through witty craigslist postings.
Nov 2002 - Christian Sparling (drums) and Brian House (bass), both found on craigslist, join the band within days of each other. Christian and Brian knew each other through a mutual friend and were surprised to see each other on the first day of rehearsal.
Mar 2003 - "The Accelerated Reading Club" plays its first show at the Charleston in Williamsburg. The name is culled from a thrift store T shirt that Christian happens to be wearing the day of the show and from the fact that the band is composed entirely of poncy wordsmiths.
Apr 2003 - The Shack EP is recorded with the tracks: "All Choked Up", "C'est la Vie", "Home Sweet Heartland" and "Until the End". The band's name is changed to "Hello Nurse" after Travis, the engineer who has spent 12 hours recording the band, cannot remember the former name of the band.
Apr-Jul 2003 - Hello Nurse plays numerous gigs in the NYC music scene, notably at Acme Underground and at The Lion's Den.
Aug 03 - Brian House leaves the band to continue his education abroad.
Sept-Oct 2003 - Bassplayer search yields sad results. The lunatic fringe rears its ugly head at bass auditions.
Oct 2003 - Joe Crespo (bass) joins the band after a single gruelling 15 minute audition (the lunatic fringe broke the wills of the other band members).
Nov 2003 - Hello Nurse plays it's first show with Joe at Acme Underground - a train wreck disaster (not Joe's fault). Hello Nurse moves into rehearsal room in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
Dec 2003 - Hello Nurse sets up Hey Sailor Studios in DUMBO. Two tracks are recorded at this time: "I Think You're Neat" and "It's Easy."
Jan 2004 - Nathaniel announces his imminent departure from the band. Frantic singer search begins.
Jan-Feb 2004 - A lot of singers come down to try out. Ed shows that he is a helluvalot like Paula Abdul, shit-chatting with even terrible singers while Christian and Joe wonder off or fiddle with various items in the studio. In one instance, Joe leaves to get coffee, sits down at the deli to read the paper and when he returns Ed is still talking up what had to have been the worst singer in the tri-state area. Christian was by then playing Joe's bass and shaking his head in frustration. In another instance, Ed exchanges a dozen pleasant emails with another singer that tried to argue his way into the band.
Feb 2004 - Mike Garcia comes down to the audition, and within a span of 10 seconds, the band knows he is the guy.
Mar 2004 - Hello Nurse returns to Hey Sailor studios to record four tracks: "There You Go", "Ordinary Me", "All Choked Up" (with Mike on vocs) and "Deaf in a Day" (formerly C'est La Vie).
Apr 2004 - Hello Nurse plays it's first show with Mike in headlining weekend show at a packed Continental. Crowd is blown away. Afterwards, while moving equipment back to the studio, Ed and Joe find themselves murmering, "whoa... what a great show... great show.... whoa..."
May 2004 - Six tracks are mixed and mastered and put together to create Hey Sailor (EP). The songs are: "There You Go", "Ordinary Me", "All Choked Up", "Animalympics", "Tectonic" and "Quit Sand (Tempted)."
Summer 2004 - Hello Nurse plays packed houses across NYC, begins work on recording 5 new tracks and gets picked up by a number of indie radio stations.
Oct 2004 - Hello Nurse plays CMJ Music Festival in NYC.
Presently - Hello Nurse continues to play in the NYC-area and is currently working on our first full-length recording.
A Heartfelt Thanks
Hello Nurse wants to thank everyone who has worked so hard to get this project off the ground! If you've come to see a show, bought a CD, bought a round of drinks, moved equipment, helped us with our various recordings, booked us at your venue, played us on your station, written a review, interviewed us, given unsolicited advice, been forced to listen to numerous rough mixes, heard song ideas ad-nauseum, or if you are one of the countless people that had to listen to us puff up our feathers and talk up the band - if you have had to do any or all of the above, then we thank you.
