Thanks to all - friends old and new - who came out to see us take the stage at Luna one last time. It would not have been fun without you. We're looking forward to the new Luna when they re-open at their new location - wherever that may be.
Enter Hello Nurse Mark II
We feel that Luna's closing marks a turning point in the NYC music scene and our last show there marks a turning point for Hello Nurse. We think that we've taken catchy, melodic rock as far as it can go.
We feel that too much emphasis has been put on the vocals in pop rock. Though we have been fortunate to have the lovely and talented Mike Garcia belting out powerful vocals, we think its time that some of the other guys in the band get some glory. So Mike's gone.
Of course, endless lead guitar solos have been done to death in rock n' roll, so Ed's out too.
But, what would rock be without drums? Well, we're about to find out cause Christian's not going to let the door hit him on the ass as he bolts from Hello Nurse Mark II.
From now on Hello Nurse is just going to be bass player Joe Crespo and his musical stylings on his brand new 11 string bass. Joe has been inspired by his well-strung majestic instrument to soar into the limelight. Using a combination of both bass styles - finger tapping AND slapping - he'll cover - not cover, rather re-interpret - great songs written by musical giants like Yanni, Kenny G and Richard Marx. Prepare to be dazzled!
Joe will make music that will make you stand up and say, "Look at how much talent it takes to bore me!" Later this year Joe will be taking Hello Nurse Mark II on the road where he fully expects to be playing empty rooms across the country.
ADDENDUM: Hey Joe, you sure look a lot like this douchebag right here:
